Haven't read your book yet, but I will. I attended Broadlea 1961 to 1965 and the memories I have bring good tears to my eyes. I adored Sister Anne Thomas, Sister Margaret Louise (Maggie Lou), and Sister Marietta. Over those years and beyond we were close. What magnificent role models, (although I didn't think so when they gave me demerits!) The hard academic work, and all the laughter, the friendships, the terrible Friday night tuna cassaroles followed by movies not of our choice. The Sings, the freezing cold, the stomping of all those sturdy black shoes, the beanies, the Sunday uniforms, May Day. I remember how honored I was when I crowned the Blessed Virgin in the Chapel. Sleding to school, tobagoning up the tree, Sister Dominic nursing me back to health in the infirmary. Whatever cough medicine she gave me (we though it had something to do with voo doo) put me to sleep for over 24 hours. When I woke up, I just didn't believe her when she told me what day it was. Getting snowed in and being given unbelievable amount of homework to keep us out of trouble. The underground tunnel to town that we were to chicken to dig out, the outings to NYC, El Cid with Charlton Heston was one of them. The bus rides with all the singing and laughter. I wonder how the good sisters did this for all those years!
